Getting To Yosemite by Air
Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) in Fresno, California, is the closest airport to The Redwoods In Yosemite (1 hours driving time). During summer months, there is public transit from the Fresno Airport to Yosemite by way of Y.A.R.T. However, you will need a vehicle to explore and enjoy Yosemite, and we recommend you rent a car at the airport.

San Jose, CA - approximately 4 hours driving time
San Francisco, CA - approximately 4 hours driving time
Sacramento, CA - approximately 4 hours driving time

Getting To Yosemite by Car
The Redwoods In Yosemite is located in the southern area of Yosemite National Park off Highway 41 in the community of Wawona. We recommend that you obtain a detailed California road map as you plan your road trip to Yosemite, and/or that you follow our driving directions below. NOTE: GPS vehicle navigation systems and computer mapping programs may include Chowchilla Mountain Road in their most direct routes to Wawona. Chowchilla Mountain Road is not a safe route, as it is a dirt road that is not improved, maintained, or patrolled. It requires a high clearance four-wheel drive vehicle during our dry summer months, and is frequently impassable during our snowy winter months.

Specific recommended routes to The Redwoods In Yosemite are as follows:

San Jose / San Francisco Airport: Take Hwy. 101 south to Gilroy; from Gilroy take Hwy. 152 east to Rt. 99; take Hwy. 99 south to Madera; from Madera take Hwy. 145 east to Hwy. 41; take Hwy. 41 north through Oakhurst, to Yosemite National Park South Entrance. Turn left, proceed 4 miles to Wawona; turn right on Chilnualna Falls Road, drive 1 mile to The Redwoods office on the right. 4 - 5 hours

Downtown San Francisco / East Bay / Berkeley: Take I-580 east to I-205 east towards Tracy; from I-205 east take Hwy. 120 east to Manteca; from Manteca take Hwy. 99 south to Merced; from Merced take Hwy. 140 east to Mariposa; from Mariposa, take Hwy. 49 east to Oakhurst; from Oakhurst, take Hwy. 41 to Yosemite National Park South Entrance. Turn left, proceed 4 miles to Wawona; turn right on Chilnualna Falls Road, drive 1 mile to The Redwoods office on the right. 4 - 5 hours

Sacramento: Take Hwy. 99 to Merced; from Merced take Hwy. 140 east to Mariposa; from Mariposa, take Hwy. 49 east to Oakhurst; from Oakhurst, take Hwy. 41 to Yosemite National Park South Entrance. Turn left, proceed 4 miles to Wawona; turn right on Chilnualna Falls Road, drive 1 mile to The Redwoods office on the right. 4 hours

Los Angeles: Take I-5 north to Hwy. 99; take Hwy. 99 north to Bakersfield. From Bakersfield, take Hwy. 99 north to Fresno 1 hours
Fresno From Fresno take Hwy. 41 north, through Oakhurst, to Yosemite National Park South Entrance. Turn left, proceed 4 miles to Wawona; turn right on Chilnualna Falls Road, drive 1 mile to The Redwoods office on the right. 5 to 6 hours

Eastern Sierra / Hwy. 395 / Tioga Pass: THIS IS A SUMMER ROUTE ONLY!!! THE ROAD IS CLOSED IN THE WINTER, GENERALLY FROM LATE OCTOBER TO LATE MAY. CALL US TO CONFIRM ROAD CONDITIONS IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ENTERING THE PARK VIA THIS ROUTE. Take Hwy. 395 to Lee Vining; from Lee Vining, take Hwy. 120 east to Yosemite National Park Tioga Pass Entrance. Continue east on Tioga Road, and follow signs to Yosemite Valley. From Yosemite Valley, follow signs to Hwy. 41 south, Wawona/Fresno. Take Hwy. 41 south approximately 22 miles. Turn left on Chilnualna Falls Road, drive 1 mile to The Redwoods office on the right. 2 - 3 hours from Tioga Pass Entrance

Alternate Routes
If you have a full day and want to include seeing parts of Yosemite National Park before you check in to your vacation home, here are two alternate routes from the San Francisco/Sacramento areas. Both of these routes will take you on scenic, winding mountain roads into and through Yosemite National Park. Add 1 - 2 hours driving time, plus time for sightseeing.

Driving Directions
Via Rt. 140 / Merced River Canyon/ Yosemite Valley From Hwy. 99, pick up Hwy. 140 east in Merced; continue on Hwy. 140 east to Mariposa, from Mariposa; continue on Hwy. 140 to Yosemite National Park Arch Rock Entrance. From this entrance, you can access Yosemite Valley.  From Yosemite Valley, follow signs to Hwy. 41 south, Wawona/Fresno. Take Hwy. 41 south approximately 22 miles. Turn left on Chilnualna Falls Road, drive 1 mile to The Redwoods office on the right

Via Rt. 120 / Access to Hetch Hetchy, Merced & Tuolumne Groves & Yosemite Valley From I-205 or Hwy. 99, pick up Hwy. 120 east in Manteca; continue on Hwy. 120 east to Yosemite National Park Big Oak Flat Entrance. From this entrance you can access the Hetch Hetchy Dam & Reservoir, the Merced and Tuolumne Groves of sequoia trees, as well as Yosemite Valley. From Yosemite Valley, follow signs to Hwy. 41 south, Wawona/Fresno. Take Hwy. 41 south approximately 22 miles. Turn left on Chilnualna Falls Road, drive 1 mile to The Redwoods office on the right.
